Designed for anyone who wants to hike and learn about the native flora. On this one-day trip exploring a botanically rich area of the Siskiyou Mountains, we’ll visit forest, meadow, streamside and lakeside plants. As we hike, frequent wildflower stops will provide stories of the native flora, plant names, ecology, rarity and other information. Butterflies and dragonflies will also be both highly visible in the meadow and at the lake, a bonus for students who enjoy a little entomology along with their botany.
Those signed up for “Crash Course in Flowering Plant Families” Monday to Wednesday are encouraged to participate, as this is an excellent way to test newly acquired plant family recognition skills.
