11/07 Provolt Salmon Hike
Date: Saturday, November 7, 2020
Location: Meet at Williams Creek Wayside on Hwy 238
Out of stock
Take a hike through the recreation area of the historic BLM Provolt Seed Orchard along the Applegate
River. We will visit several of the salmon viewing areas along the Applegate River and Williams Creek for
Chinook salmon that start their runs in October and November. Check out the restoration projects that
are transforming the Seed Orchard into hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails, and the efforts to aid
the salmon recovery in these important spawning and rearing aquatic habitats. Pond turtle wetlands,
beavers, as well as Osprey, Eagle and other bird watching and fish observation areas are found on this
newly formed 1200 acre recreation area.
Meet at the Williams Creek Wayside on Hwy 238 (near MilePost 13) at the historic Humpback Bridge
over Williams Creek to start the tour.
Bring a lunch and water for a hike into the recreation area. Binoculars and cameras help view the
scenes, and capture rare moments.
** Covid-19 protocols in place. Masks and hand sanitizer are mandatory. This is a physically distant hike.
