Learn about native flora of the Siskiyous on this fun, less than 5-mile hike to Bigelow Lakes. Our route passes through many plant habitats including montane forest, montane meadow, lakeside, and creekside – together hosting a great diversity of wildflowers to be enjoyed. Many butterflies and dragonflies are also present in the meadow and at the lakes, a bonus for students who enjoy a little entomology along with their botany. Led by botanist Dr. Linda Vorobik.

For those registered for Linda’s 3-day workshop, “Introduction to Fire Ecology: A Botanist’s Perspective”, this day in the field can serve as an excellent example of a site that hasn’t burnt for many years.

*Covid-19 protocols in place. Masks required for all in person courses.
