Learn about an important contribution of the Klamath-Siskiyou bioregion to North America – the genus Camassia. Students will learn all about this spring flowering genus, including identification, anatomy, physiology, natural and cultural history, and current conservation efforts. Includes an excursion to a local site to see camas blooming, and a chance to taste prepared camas bulbs (donated by Kenagy family farm in Albany Oregon). Field hike is moderate: 3 miles round trip with an ankle-deep stream crossing. Secondary, poor-weather field site requires a drive to north of Grants Pass.
*Covid-19 protocols in place. Masks required for all in person courses.
