Educational Philosophy and Goals
Here at SFI we use our richly biodiverse natural area as a bridge to connect students to sciences, math, arts and literature. Our immersive science and nature programs feed the mind and spirit as they help students experience and observe the natural world. We aim for instructor-to-student ratios of at least 1:10 to ensure individual attention and time to explore each student’s curiosity. Instructors serve as guides, creating hands-on activity platforms for students to observe and to think critically.
We hope to create a more engaged and empowered citizen capable of solving real-world problems and collaborating within their community.
Our goals are:
To instill a sense of wonder and curiosity while exploring ecological systems.
To impart to students a better understanding of connectivity in their own natural and social networks.
