Hügelkultur Workshop

February 23

$70

Hügelkultur roughly translates from the German as “mound culture.” It is a centuries-old permacultural practice in which a mound constructed from decaying wood debris and other compostable biomass plant materials is later, or immediately, planted as a raised bed.

The first few hours of the workshop will focus on a discussion of soils, soil health and the theory, benefits and design techniques behind hügelkultur. The second half will include hands-on implementation of what we have learned by building a new hügelkultur garden onsite at SFI and sowing a cover crop.
